Do you know about Tesla? It is a very popular electric car company in America. You may also know the founder, Elon musk, as he is often in the news for saying crazy things and getting into online fights.

I have never actually ridden in a Tesla but I’ve heard they are really nice. And the acceleration is amazing.

Tesla cars are very stylish and futuristic looking. They have a different atmosphere than the traditional car companies. An amazing job of marketing and brand building. It reminds me a lot of Apple. Like the popular kid in school, there is just something cool about them.

The cars interiors are very minimalist. There are no buttons or knobs; only a large touch screen in the center console. Using the car is much more like using a smart phone than a machine.

In order to buy a car from Tesla, you have to contact Tesla directly. There are no Tesla car dealerships. I have heard that the process is a pain and quite stressful. Furthermore, compounded by the recent chip shortages and supply chain issues, the wait time before you get your car is many months.

Well, my father my father just got his dream car. His Tesla arrived yesterday after waiting half a year. I find it interesting (scary?) that he bought a new car at an age when many Japanese people start returning their driver’s licenses. Let’s hope my dad can safely enjoy his new present for a long time.
